COVID-19 TESTING

Pre-admission / Symptomatic patients must be referred by their healthcare practitioner and present at the COVID testing facility with their ID and a completed request form.
Patients requiring COVID-19 testing for pre-admission, are encouraged to contact the Pathcare branch at the Hospital of their admission.

Patients using medical aid: If your medical aid covers COVID -19 testing, we will submit the claim on your behalf. Please Note: You are required to establish if testing is covered by your medical scheme.

Results will be available within 48 hours and will be forwarded to you via sms. Please wait for your doctor to contact you.

TRAVELLERS

An appointment for travel purposes must be made timeously.  The time at which your sample must be collected should be calculated based on your arrival date and time at your final destination to ensure that your results will be valid upon arrival.  Please confirm these details with your travel agent, the consulate or available details on the relevant countries’ website.  Results are generally available within 24-48 hours following arrival at the testing laboratory.  Please consider transportation from outlying areas to the main laboratories in Cape Town and Johannesburg. 

Travellers are required to present at the COVID-19 testing facility with their printed and completed Travel COVID-19 form and passport.  Referral from a healthcare practitioner is not required (Download form).  Please ensure that you familiarise yourself with your destination country’s results validity policy – click here: https://www.iatatravelcentre.com/world.php

If you are travelling to China, please be informed that their COVID-19 regulations differ from other countries in that they require proof of negative results for both the SARS-CoV-2 PCR and IgM Antibody tests.

Upfront payment is required at the time of testing:

China: R1000

All other countries: R850

Results will be available within 24-48 hours after reaching the analysing laboratory and will be sent to the travellers by email.  The result is watermarked and stamped so there should be no reason for your to collect a hard copy. If you still require an emailed copy of your result, you may call 0860 666 553, and select OPTION 2.

Travellers testing positive for COVID-19 are presumably asymptomatic. While false positive COVID-19 PCR tests do occur, false negative tests are frequently seen, especially in asymptomatic patients. Subsequent tests may prove negative depending on a range of factors including but not limited to the shedding rate of the virus, immune response and sample quality. Drs Dietrich, Voigt, Mia takes no responsibility for ANY claims of whatsoever nature or any consequential losses relating to test results falling within the aforementioned category.  Furthermore, we will make every effort to ensure the timely analysis of the sample, however we cannot take responsibility for reimbursing missed flights or other costs as a result of test results not being available.

CORPORATE CLIENTS

CORPORATE CLIENTS (Where your employer is the guarantor for the test) are required to present with a completed, official company request form, for corporate account payment. Should your company not have the corporate request form or account with Pathcare, please ask your employer to contact specialops.covid@pathcare.co.za. Alternatively, contact your private healthcare practitioner for referral and then payment will be required at the Pathcare branch. 

 Your company will be billed for the testing, provided we received the official company referral form with their corporate code as the referring doctor/company. No payment required from you at the depot. Please Note: WCA referrals are either required to make payment upfront or via company corporate account. Pathcare is unable to assist with WCA claims.

Results will be available within 48 hours and will be forwarded to you via SMS as well as a copy of the result sent to your employer (company representative).
